Advanced filtration solutions water and wastewater treatment
What is water and wastewater treatment?
There is an acute scarcity of freshwater resources. We can hardly meet the standard water demand for consumption and utility. Often water bodies get contaminated by oil spills, biofouling, solid sediments, salts, minerals, and a host of other pollutants. Water used for (a)consumption, utility, commercial/industrial purposes, or (b) wastewater discharged back into a water body, it has to be first treated and filtered. This process of filtering, cleaning, and processing contaminated water is called water or wastewater treatment.

Pre-filtration is extremely critical for RO units and RO membranes to function at maximum efficiency for the longest time. The cartridge filters remove suspended particulates, colloids, and other such contaminants before the actual filtration by the Ro equipment. This leads to less filtration stress on the RO membranes, hence a longer life and higher performance.
SDI and turbidity are the key factors that determine the correct use of any spiral wound RO/NF membrane elements. A good multimedia depth filter followed by robust cartridge filters decreases SDI and turbidity, and eventually, the fouling and caking of the RO elements. Thus increasing the life span of RO/NF elements, and allowing the continuous high performance of spiral wound RO/NF membrane elements.
When bio-fouling is a concern, a 1-micron filter comes to the rescue. Bacteria usually ranges from 0.2 to 2 microns in width/diameter and from 1 to 10 micron in length for non-spherical species. A 1-micron filter removes most of the bacteria and cysts in the water, thus, protecting the RO membrane from biofouling.
Filtration is one of the most important steps in raw water processing. Raw water is pre-filtered as it enters into the process. Filtration helps remove the smaller particles from the water and is critical to the absolute purity of the finished product.
Filtration devices are used in a deionization system to treat incoming mains water. Trap filters ensure that the make-up process water is pure by preventing the downstream contamination of the source water due to sediment or ion exchange bead migration.
In industrial applications, water treatment optimizes processes such as heating, cooling, processing, cleaning, and rinsing. Certain type of water quality and removal of contaminants is critical for each of these applications. Effective filtration removes these undesirable contaminants.
Effluents and contaminants like silica, calcium, magnesium, heavy metal, etc., blow-down along with the wastewater streams. These effluents are extremely dangerous if consumed by marine/underwater life or mixed in the environment. Hence, the wastewater is treated and filtered before releasing it back into the ecosystem.
Filtration removes the rust and scale from boiler feed water to maintain efficient operations and keeps the equipment healthy.
Filtration helps to remove particulates to reclaim water for new uses, protect and preserve water resources.
Filters with high dirt holding capacity help keep the discharge water clean and environmentally compliant.
