ClaryFil™ Polyester (PE) Filter Bags

Gopani manufactures ClaryFil™ polyester filter bags from premium PET singed felt at our ISO 9001:2015 certified facility in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India. Polyester bag filters are the preferred choice for high-temperature liquid filtration, offering superior thermal stability and hydrolysis resistance compared to polypropylene. As one of India’s established industrial filter bag manufacturers since 1993, we supply PE liquid filter bags to chemical, pharmaceutical, food and beverage, and water treatment industries across 40+ countries.

Available in 9 micron ratings from 1 to 200 µm and 4 standard sizes (#1 through #4), ClaryFil™ PE bags fit all major global bag filter housing brands. Singed felt finish minimises fibre shedding, and fully welded construction ensures zero bypass.

When to Choose Polyester Over Polypropylene

Polyester filter bags are the right choice when your process involves temperatures above 80°C, where PP bags cannot perform. PE also offers better dimensional stability under sustained heat and resists hydrolysis better than PP in steam-rich or high-moisture environments. For applications below 80°C with strong acids or caustics, polypropylene (PP) filter bags may be more chemically suitable. Our engineers can help you select the right media for your exact process conditions.

Applications

ClaryFil™ PE liquid filter bags deliver reliable particle retention in high-temperature and thermally demanding industrial filtration:

  • High-temperature chemical processing
  • Electrocoat (e-coat) and CED paint shop filtration
  • Hot water and condensate filtration
  • Resin, lacquer, and varnish filtration
  • Pharmaceutical intermediate filtration
  • Food-grade oil and beverage processing
  • Petrochemical and refinery process fluids

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the maximum temperature for polyester filter bags?

ClaryFil™ PE filter bags with an SS 316 stainless steel ring are rated to a maximum operating temperature of 80°C. For high-temperature applications, always pair PE media with a metal ring collar.

When should I use polyester instead of polypropylene filter bags?

Choose PE when your process temperature exceeds 80°C, when you need better dimensional stability under heat, or when the application involves hot water, steam, or thermally aggressive fluids. PP is better for strong acid and caustic filtration at lower temperatures. Our engineers can help you decide based on your specific process chemistry and temperature.

What does “singed felt” mean in polyester filter bags?

Singeing is a thermal finishing process where the felt surface is briefly exposed to flame. This melts and smooths protruding fibres on the bag surface, reducing fibre shedding and improving cake release during filtration. It results in a cleaner filtrate compared to unsinged media.

Can polyester bags handle acids and solvents?

PE bags have good resistance to most mineral acids at moderate concentrations and many organic solvents. However, they are less resistant than PP to strong caustics (sodium hydroxide) and concentrated sulfuric acid. For aggressive chemical filtration, check our PP filter bags or contact our team for a chemical compatibility assessment.

Are ClaryFil™ PE bags compatible with my existing housing?

Yes. ClaryFil™ PE bags are manufactured in global standard sizes #1 through #7, plus #2X and fit all major bag filter housing brands. We also offer custom sizes and collar configurations on request to match non-standard housings.

What is the maximum temperature for polyester filter bags?

ClaryFil™ PE singed polyester felt bags handle up to 80°C with a PP collar, or up to 130°C with an SS 316 or zinc-plated steel ring, making them suitable for high-temperature liquid filtration.

What micron ratings are available for PE filter bags?

ClaryFil™ PE bags are available in 9 standard micron ratings from 1 to 200 µm: 1, 5, 10, 25, 50, 75, 100, 150, and 200 µm.

What is the difference between PP and PE filter bags?

PP (polypropylene) bags are rated to 80°C and suit most process chemicals. PE (polyester) bags offer a higher temperature rating up to 130°C, making them preferable for hot process liquids and steam condensate filtration.

Are ClaryFil™ PE filter bags fully welded?

Yes. ClaryFil™ PE felt bags use a fully welded seam construction, eliminating stitch holes and ensuring zero bypass of unfiltered liquid through the bag body.
