Gopani manufactures ClaryFil™ oil adsorbing filter bags that remove both free hydrocarbons and suspended particulates in a single filtration pass. Built from polypropylene meltblown media with a hydrophobic, oleophilic treatment, these oil removal filter bags selectively attract and absorb oils, greases, and hydrocarbons while allowing clean water to pass through. As an ISO 9001:2015 certified industrial filter bag manufacturer in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India since 1993, we supply oil absorption bag filters to water treatment, manufacturing, and petrochemical industries across 40+ countries.
ClaryFil™ oil adsorbing bags fit standard Size #1 and #2 bag filter housings, making them a drop-in upgrade for any existing liquid bag filtration system where oil contamination is a concern.

The meltblown polypropylene media is inherently hydrophobic (repels water) and oleophilic (attracts oil). When contaminated water passes through the bag, free oils, greases, and hydrocarbons are selectively adsorbed into the fibre matrix while water flows through. Simultaneously, suspended solids are trapped by the depth filtration mechanism of the meltblown media. The result is cleaner effluent with significantly reduced oil content and total suspended solids (TSS) in a single pass, without the need for separate coalescing or skimming equipment.
ClaryFil™ oil adsorbing filter bags address oil-in-water contamination across a wide range of industries:
Dealing with oil contamination in your process water or wastewater? Our filtration engineers will assess your oil loading, flow rate, and effluent targets to recommend the right oil adsorbing bag configuration.
How much oil can one filter bag absorb?
A single ClaryFil™ oil adsorbing bag can absorb up to approximately 1.5 kg of free oil, depending on oil type, viscosity, temperature, and flow rate. Heavier crude or mineral oils are absorbed more readily than lighter synthetic oils. Monitor the pressure differential across the bag to determine when replacement is needed.
Can oil adsorbing bags remove emulsified oils?
ClaryFil™ oil adsorbing bags are designed to remove free (non-emulsified) oils and hydrocarbons. Mechanically or chemically emulsified oils require different treatment methods such as chemical demulsification or membrane separation. For mixed oil contamination (free + emulsified), our engineers can design a multi-stage filtration approach.
Will these bags fit my existing bag filter housing?
Yes. ClaryFil™ oil adsorbing bags are manufactured in standard Size #1 (7″×16″) and Size #2 (7″×32″) to fit all major bag filter housing brands. They are a direct drop-in replacement for standard felt bags in your existing system.
Can oil adsorbing bags be reused or regenerated?
Oil adsorbing bags are single-use consumables. Once the meltblown media is saturated with oil, the bag should be replaced. Attempting to wash or regenerate the bag will not restore oil absorption capacity. Spent bags should be disposed of according to local regulations for oily waste.
How do oil adsorbing bags compare to coalescers and oil skimmers?
Oil adsorbing bags offer a simpler, lower-cost alternative to coalescer plates and mechanical oil skimmers for moderate oil contamination levels. They install directly in a standard bag filter housing with no additional equipment. For very high oil loadings or continuous heavy-duty separation, a coalescer may be more appropriate as a primary treatment stage, with oil adsorbing bags used as a polishing step.
ClaryFil™ oil adsorbing bags use a polypropylene melt-blown media that selectively adsorbs dispersed and emulsified hydrocarbons from aqueous streams, capturing oil within the fibre matrix while allowing water to pass through freely.
Common applications include effluent treatment plants (ETP), cooling water systems, oily wastewater polishing, compressor condensate treatment, and stormwater runoff filtration where hydrocarbon removal is required before discharge.
ClaryFil™ oil adsorbing bags are available in standard sizes #1 through #4 with either a PP or SS 316 ring collar, fitting all standard single and multi-bag filter housings.
No. Oil adsorbing bags are single-use. Once the media is saturated with hydrocarbons it should be disposed of in accordance with local regulations for oily waste materials.
